How to: supercharge your water

How to: supercharge your water

Bored of drinking plain water? Below, we share five ways to supercharge your water and ensure you hit your daily hydration goal.

Lemon Water: Chances are you’ve heard of this simple hydration tip, but a lemon wedge or a squeeze of lemon juice is an easy way to jazz up a glass of hot or cold water. If you’re short on time, extract the juice from a fresh lemon and pour its juice into ice cube trays and freeze. Pop one cube into your glass or water bottle and you’re good to go. Better still, make it a daily habit and start your day with warm lemon water to help your digestive system to jumpstart your day - take a mental note of any benefits you feel from adding this into your daily routine.

Bone Broth: Warm up with a steaming hot mug of bone broth. Flavoursome and easy to make, we love our Nourishing Chicken Bone Broth during the cooler months to boost hydration, improve your vitamin intake, as well as support a healthy gut and immune system.

Faux Mojito: A faux Mojito (or faux-jito) features the same delicious flavours of the original, minus the alcohol. Refreshing and zesty, this easy recipe is sure to quench your thirst and boost your hydration levels on a hot day. In a tall glass, add a sprig of mint leaves and three slices of lime. Using a muddler or a spoon, mash the lime and mint well. Add a handful of ice cubes and top with still or sparkling water. For an extra zesty flavour hit, add a tablespoon of lime juice.

Herbal Tea: You just need to take a peek at the well-stocked tea aisle in your local supermarket to know there are a multitude of herbal tea options available. From soothing chamomile that helps to calm the nervous system to uplifting peppermint that aids the digestive system, there’s a herbal tea to suit every taste. Check the ingredients list, the best ones are crafted with natural ingredients without any added sugar. Serve them hot or cold to improve your water intake no matter what the season.

Warming Winter Tonic: Not feeling 100 per cent? Try this warming winter concoction. In a 1L heatproof jug, add a slice of fresh turmeric, a wedge of fresh ginger, one teaspoon of cinnamon, the juice of half a lemon and one teaspoon of coconut oil. Top up the mixture with hot water and let it steep for five minutes before drinking. Top it up with hot water throughout the day for a delicious winter brew.

Our Drink Up tip: Mix up your hydration each day. Think lemon water in the morning, herbal tea after lunch and a warming glass of bone broth before bedtime.
